Future of Faith
How sacred listening reshapes the way we design for young people at the margins.
What began as a project to create a tool for leaders working with youth through the Lighthouse Ministry became a profound lesson in the power of listening.
During the development of The Lighthouse Listening Tool, Megan Bissell and Josh Packard from Future of Faith traveled to Florida to meet the Lighthouse community in person. Over a shared dinner, they set aside traditional research methods and asked simple, sacred questions:
What brings you joy?
What are your hopes?
What would a tool look like that helps you tell your story?
That evening reshaped everything. Youth moved from being research subjects to becoming co-designers of their own spiritual resources.
From that experience, Future of Faith introduced a new “For You and Follow Up” section in all their tools—a flexible framework that adapts to the diverse identities and experiences of young people everywhere.
What started as one shared meal became a model for collaboration—a reminder that the most transformative ministry tools begin with listening.
New Tools from Future of Faith
This spirit of collaboration continues through three new Future of Faith tools within their Sacred Listening: Identity Series, each designed to deepen listening and connection in community.
